• Atelier Rebul

  Grew out of the Rebul pharmacy that French pharmacist Jean Cesar Reboul opened in Beyoğlu in 1895. His partner Kemal Müderrisoğlu took it over, and in 1938 the pharmacy launched Rebul Lavanda, a lavender cologne that became an Istanbul classic. The family relaunched the name as Atelier Rebul, a perfume and cosmetics brand with collections named after the city.

• Eyüp Sabri Tuncer

  Cologne house from Ankara. Eyüp Sabri Tuncer opened a shop there in 1923 and began making cologne in 1933. His son later developed the lemon kolonya that made the name famous. Today it sells hundreds of products, from classic kolonya to perfume and body care, and exports widely.

• Nishane

  Niche perfume house founded in Istanbul in 2012 by Mert Güzel and Murat Katran. The name means mark or sign in Turkish. Nishane calls itself the first Istanbul based niche perfume brand, and its scents draw on Turkish culture, from shadow puppet theatre to the poetry of Rumi.

• Parfumane

  Istanbul perfume gallery and boutique that sells its own oils, oud, incense, sprays and a Turkish cologne collection. Parfumane says its perfumes follow old Ottoman and Middle Eastern formulas. Its Grand Bazaar space also shows collector Bekir Kantarcı's collection of more than 10,000 old perfume bottles.

• Türkan

  Young Turkish perfume house launched in October 2021 by three women: designer Türkan Doğrulatan Turan, Pınar Bayoğlu and Beste Yazman. The brand says it set out to bring traditional cologne culture into modern life. It sells extrait and eau de parfum plus a cologne line, each scent with a number and a story.
